MUSIC LESSONS FROM PROVEN, TRAINED PROFESSIONALS

Reed Music Studios in Onalaska, WI, founded in 1987, is an organized music studio providing private music lessons in piano, strings, flute, voice, clarinet and guitar to students of all ages and ability levels. Structured on the foundation of excellence, our studio provides quality music instruction within a caring and appealing learning environment.

INSTRUCTION

Traditional, one-on-one private lessons. We have two instructors that offer Suzuki violin lessons.

Private lessons ensure that the student is able to progress at his or her own pace and has the undivided attention of the teacher.

Weekly lessons are given throughout the entire year.

Most lessons are approximately 30 minutes each week. Depending on the level and progress of the student, a 45 or 60 minute weekly lesson may be recommended.

Note reading and music theory is encouraged from the very beginning of the student's lessons.

All teachers promote an overall positive musical experience during every stage of the learning process.

PRACTICE

"Practice makes perfect!"

At home practice time is required and necessary for successful lessons and steady progress. The instructor will help with daily practice tips and guide students about how much time is needed each week. The amount of practice recommended will vary based on the age and level of the student.

PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES

RECITALS

Multiple studio recitals are scheduled each year.

Students are encouraged (not required) to participate in the recitals.

HONORS RECITALS

For students who are looking for a challenging and motivational goal over the summer months, there is the annual Reed Music Studios Honors Recital competition held in the fall. All students audition for a spot in this special performance that takes place in a professional recital hall. Students receive feedback and written comments from a judge after they audition. There is an entry fee for participation. This is a highly anticipated and spectacular event for the studio involving multimedia, awards, and a celebratory reception for all after the performance.

WHEN TO BEGIN

FOR CHILDREN

There is no perfect age for a student to begin traditional private lessons.
Some teachers may agree to take a very young student with the understanding that it is on a trial basis for one month to determine if he or she is ready for regular ongoing private lessons.

FOR TEENS AND ADULTS

Students are never too old to begin lessons - adults and teens are invited!
Adults may have played in the past or might be starting from scratch. Teens may have studied recently with a different instructor or are a complete beginner.
All students at any age will be guided at their own pace toward musical goals.

TRANSFER STUDENTS

Transfer students (those who have previously studied with another instructor outside of Reed Music Studios) are welcome and invited to continue their lessons at Reed Music Studios.
At the first lesson, the teacher will get to know the student by asking about previous musical experiences and develop a plan for moving forward based on the student's personal goals.
